I love making classical hand-painted low poly models. Like this one.
When I first started making 3D there were no normal maps. It was all hand-painted. And I loved it. I still love making these. There is something really relaxing in the painting process with no sculpt to guide you. There is a freedom that you can change everything at any moment.
Here I made a basic model, unwrapped it and started texturing. Long gone are the days where I had to align the seams by hand. Now I can paint my textures directly in blender.
For this model I used blender for almost all the texturing. I just made a final pass in Krita for some color adjustment and to add the color bleed for the seams.
